Abstract Text:

Nanophase ( We present new results from an ongoing project to characterize and model the spectral effects of two component mixtures of nanophase strong absorbers (amorphous carbon) or mineral powder (olivine) in a transparent matrix (halite).
For these two component mixtures, we mixed the All samples were prepared by grinding in a McCrone Micronising Mill in 2-propanol followed by stokes settling (also in 2-propanol) to separate the Selected laboratory spectra are compared to a Mie/Hapke hybrid model as well as model spectra derived from the Multiple Sphere T-Matrix Model.

About SSERVI
Recognizing that science and human exploration are mutually enabling, NASA created the Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI) to address basic and applied scientific questions fundamental to understanding the Moon, Near Earth Asteroids, the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos, and the near space environments of these target bodies. As a virtual institute, SSERVI funds investigators at a broad range of domestic institutions, bringing them together along with international partners via virtual technology to enable new scientific efforts."
